The first bag to officially carry the Andover Trask label has been shipped to Boston! This one is made from canvas and denim. The leather handles are attached with hand-hammered copper rivets.
The first shipment of official Andover Trask waxed canvas has arrived!
Waxed canvas got its start in the shipping industry when sailors learned that water-repellent sailcloth improved efficiency and reduced the weight of their vessels. Sailors originally used linseed oil to treat their sails and switched to paraffin-infused canvas as technology improved.
Andover Trask’s waxed canvas comes from one of the oldest textile companies in the United States (they’ve been around since 1838). I chose waxed canvas as the primary material for my bags because of its classic good looks and rugged heritage.
